Privacy Policy

Your Privacy Matters
Somna is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your mental health journey is personal, and we respect that. This policy explains how we handle your information.
What We Store
On Your Device (Local Storage)
- • Your cognitive chains (thoughts, emotions, body sensations)
- • Your balanced truth reframes
- • Support session history
- • Weekly reflection data
- • App preferences and settings
By default, all your personal content stays on your device. We never see your raw thoughts or journal entries.
What We Process (Somna Plus)
If you use Somna Plus features that require AI processing:
- • We send only minimal, redacted summaries to our servers
- • Thought content is truncated to 140 characters maximum
- • No raw journal text is transmitted
- • Data is processed in memory and not stored on our servers
- • Request bodies are never logged
What We Don't Do
- • We don't sell your data to third parties
- • We don't show you advertisements
- • We don't track your behaviour across other apps
- • We don't require an account to use core features
Anonymous Analytics
Somna collects anonymous usage events to understand which features are helpful. Your reflections are never recorded.
- • We track feature usage (e.g., "support mode opened") - not content
- • All data is anonymised with a random device ID
- • No session recordings, no screen captures
- • You can opt out at any time in Settings
Sign In with Apple
If you choose to sign in, we use Sign in with Apple which provides us only with a unique identifier and optionally your name (not your email). This enables sync features while maintaining your privacy.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from the app's Settings. This permanently removes everything from your device. If you've used sync features, you can request deletion of any server-side data by contacting us.
